Feathers, Twine and Kindling What I want, you've got, enough for the both of us. When I watch you sing, the notes dig right into me. Baby bird, your feeble song: my wooden frame. Does mercy look the other way? Way up high, the tallest tree, your love has been withheld from me, and like Pinocchio, I hang my head with puppet's string. And some nights I feel so light, those weighted wires carry me. Let me off, lift me up, let me off. I saw something different every time I'd look. Maybe your wings were ready; maybe your time had come. For a moment you'd reconsidered, for a season you'd return. This boy could feel his heart beat, from his hollowed cedar chest. As I hung like a ghost in the window sill, while the rest of the house fell into a great sleep, I heard a rustle in your tree, your familiar melody, played out like the grooves of an old Carole King album, soft and sweet with the soul of an aging gospel choir. God, could you cut the strings? Would you bring her back to me? Make the big decisions easy. Oh, am I anything? Well, what I need is a pretty thing, someone to take the edge off me and what I see has never seemed so far from here. Baby bird, your siren song, my fragile frame is fracturing. I'm fracturing, I'm factoring that God still has the upper hand.

Here We Come, Naked from the Garden When it comes down to who indulged the first, I think I've gotta face the facts. It didn't take convincing to go ahead and have a bite, and I didn't need the knowledge to know my right from wrong. Was I overly dependent? A spoiled, ungrateful son? If I was made in your image, then where did these thoughts come from? Here we come, naked from the garden with our heads face down and our hands behind our backs. Did it have to be and apple that would ruin everyone? Well, I guess sometimes we do things, just to watch it come undone. So lately I have been having trouble trying to remain optimistic about the coming years. I have to shut everyone out in hopes to find some rest. I can never catch a break from all these polished judges. When all I want is an answer, I'm all open ears. My head is static, it's like I'm never here. The words resounding from the pulpit, don't speak to me at all. Is there salvation for the deaf and dumb and violent? Is there a wager on which road I take? If I could figure a way to make this worth it, in return would you pardon my misdealing? So watch us run, shaking from the garden, with our filthy hands and a noose around our necks.

Wind and the Wheels When the wheels stop turning I will go back home. When my mind stops wandering I will build my own. I wrote some words for you to read if I'm not back. Don't give me up, cause I'm not ready to quit. I'm the weather at your window, I'm the cold decay. I'm a ghost; I'm your reoccurring dream. I'm the man who walks out. I'm the masquerade, humming the melody of my better days.

I am Everyone I Need and the Only One who Stuck Around Something shook these bones up from sleep. Someone called out and spoke a word in me. I am red wine, pressed and refined. I'm the liar, the puppet the fox. I am everything, it could be worse, all that and more. I am everyone I need and the only one who stuck around. I've longed for a summer by the sea, two oceans crossed out so no one could see. I've hid behind who I've sold myself to be, and at times felt clothed in secrecy. Will the monster, buried underneath, overcome me, or is he just the thing I need to rationalize? The water's well, so sink or swim. If it feels alright, do you feel righteous? If we all die alone, can you live with yourself? I make my own steps but I can't see where this is going. I am everyone I need and the only one who stuck around.

If Not for You When was the first time? How is this happening to me? I believe we are chosen. I think that love is up to us. And if all these thoughts add up at all, I'm pretty sure it means that you're my little girl. If not for you, I would have given up by now. I wouldn't have made it to the door. If it was for me, I'm sure I'd mess things up, but you've given me this joy and it's all for you. When was the last time someone really made me laugh? What have I done to know such a one? You've been keeping me alive, and you know it's up to us. And if all these thoughts add up at all, I'm pretty sure it means that you're my little girl. If not for you, I would have given up by now. I wouldn't have made it to the door. If it was for me, I'm sure I'd mess things up, but you've given me this joy and it's all for... You are the last thoughts before I sleep. You are the dream. You are the words I can't express. When I sing, you are my song. If not for you, I would have given up by now. I wouldn't have made it to the door. If it was for me, I'm sure I'd mess things up, but you've given me this joy and it's all for you.

Make Me New 02:36
Make Me New Oh Lord, oh Lord can you still hear me? Do my words reach up to heaven? Do they clear the clouds or spin around? Is it a joyful noise? I know I ain't got long, so I guess that I'll keep trying. Oh Lord, oh Lord are you still with us? Quite frankly I've been thinking of you, all the promises you made, and the ways I have betrayed my friends. And you know it takes a lot to just try and get back up. Oh Lord, my God you've never failed me; it's just that I have failed to see it. You're the anchor of my storms and you carry me along the waves until I see that dove you have sent to lift me up on dry land. You make everything new, so won't you make me too?
